TOMS Jackets

Biz Match Overview:
A biz match is when you look at an established business model and find a way to apply the model to a different product, service or even industry. The model we will look at today is of TOMS Shoes.

About TOMS Shoes
TOMS Shoes has received a lot of attention for their buy-one-give-one philosophy (BOGO). The model works because the profit margins on shoes are so high (Example: 40% for Nike), they create a product people need and they’re seen as stylish. Looking at TOMS, as an inspiration, I brainstormed several businesses that could create both products with high margins and that people around the globe need regardless of their financial standing. The one that had the most potential can be found below.

Goal: Instead of creating a TOMS Shoes clone, use the model as inspiration to create a company that addresses the needs of people around the globe, regardless of financial standing.

Idea: BOGO jackets fits the model TOMS laid out quite nicely and even takes it a step farther. Jackets, like shoes, have a tremendous margin, can be be stylish and are in need around the world. Due to the fact there are a variety of jacket styles and usages, a BOGO jacket company will be able to provide for people around the world with various clothing needs.

Thought of a good BOGO idea? Put it in the comments!
